1) Cut your lollipop sticks to size for the front face of the house and the roof (remember you will still need to get the lid on so allow space for that.) 2)Cut window holes in the box before painting. 3)Paint the sticks before you glue them down - We used system 3: wedgewood blue. In the meantime you can paint the rest of the box blue (don't worry about the lid). Paint the lollipop sticks for the roof grey as a basecoat. 4)To get the snow effect on the roof planks, take a piece of card or a spare lollipop stick and scrape a layer of thick white paint along the length of the stick. This should give you some nice texture. (Sprinkle with glitter if you like.) 5) Now you can start to glue everything in place. You can cut the balsa wood to size for the windows, roof and door as you go. 6)For the Front of the roof you can make any design from the lollipop sticks to fill up the space. We used a wood stain on them but you can use ink, watered down paint or just leave them. 7) Then you should be left with a lovely winter cabin, which would look great over christmas with an electric tealight inside!
