We are a small business, but our staff are experts in their fields (or are being trained to be). Over 50% of our employees are graduates- all art staff are practising artists or illustrators, most have art degrees. Even our temporary or casual staff are art students. Each year we display their private creative work during the Merton Arts Trail
Ian Fielder (BMet. GFC)
Has been MD for O..(far too long!). He oversees all parts of the business except book selling and there's not much he doesn't know about the products he sells, although he claims to learn something new everyday. He is a qualified Fine Art Trade Guild Commended Framer
A highly skilled artist - Stephanie came back to Fielders after gaining her degree and several years experience in Visual Display with Habitat - she is now our shop manager and senior buyer.
Gemma (BA. GCF)
Our picture framer - Gemma is a talented illustrator who learnt her framing skills with us. She can turn a simple print or sketch into a masterpiece. She is a qualified Fine Art Trade Guild Commended Framer.
Our assistant framer and art sales assistant. Fran is a talented fashion designer, seamstress and illustrator. She is currently studying for the Fine Art Trade Commended Framer exams.
One of our Weekend Art Sales assistants who has recently graduated from Wimbledon College of Art. She helps create our window props and has become an expert on the art materials we sell. She will often be seen demonstrating craft products on the shop-floor.
Jean Fielder (Dip. Ed.)
Spent her early working life as a teacher (she still manages some part- time teaching for special needs) joined us to be our educational book expert- but for 20 years has overseen the whole book selling operation. She has become an expert in sourcing unusual and interesting titles in many areas especially art and artists.
Ross has lived in the book department for twenty years. He knows every book in it intimately and has even given them names. Mad (but quite harmless); ask him any question about books (but don't expect a short answer). He originally trained as an artist and is still painting. Since we started specialising in Art books we discovered the depths of his knowledge of Art history and Artists. He can also be an inspiration for suggestions on how to frame your artwork. He has a loyal following amongst our customers needing complex colour copying work - he CAN completely control our high quality colour Xerox.
Our talented creative arts and crafts advisor, recently graduated from Wimbledon College of Art.
Annie is our weekend supervisor. She has an in-depth knowledge of our products gained from her many years with us. She also is a keen picture framer.
Holly, Rosie & Sam
Fine art undergraduates at Wimbledon College of Art with us at weekends.
